A shower enclosure is built as one assembly — panels, door and hardware — around a single opening, which is why almost none of them are standard. Older McLean baths often have walls that are out of square and tile set to an older standard, so a stock door will not seal. Newer primary baths tend to have taller openings, where panel weight and hinge selection decide what is possible. We template every opening on site and build the glass to that opening.
Frameless Shower Doors
A frameless enclosure is heavy tempered glass carried on hinges and clamps rather than a metal frame — the configuration most McLean clients ask for, and the one that shows a tiled shower off properly.
We build frameless shower doors and panels in 3/8″ and 1/2″ tempered glass, in straight inline, corner, neo-angle and door-with-return-panel layouts, plus curbless and wet-room configurations.
Sliding and Barn-Style Shower Doors
Where a swinging door would hit a vanity, a toilet or a narrow walkway — common in the hall baths of older McLean houses — a sliding door solves the problem without giving up the frameless look.
We install top-rolling barn-style sliders on an exposed track and bypass systems where two panels pass each other, in the same glass thicknesses and hardware finishes as our swing doors.
Steam Shower Enclosures
A steam enclosure has to hold vapour, so the glass runs all the way to the ceiling or is closed off with a fixed transom panel, on a steam-rated door with the right seals and sweep, plus a vent or operable transom so the room can clear.
We build steam enclosures to the opening and coordinate the glass with your steam generator and tile layout. Bring us in while the framing is still open — header support and ceiling condition are far easier to solve then.
Shower Screens, Tub Screens and Splash Panels
Not every opening needs a door. A single fixed panel — a shower screen or splash panel — keeps water off the floor in a walk-in shower while leaving the entry open, and is the simplest way to modernise a wet room.
Over a tub, a hinged or fixed tub screen replaces a curtain entirely. Same tempered glass, same hardware finishes, much smaller job.

Glass Options
Clear tempered glass is the most popular choice. Low-iron (ultra-clear) glass removes the faint green cast you see on the edge of standard glass. Acid-etched and rain glass add privacy where a shower faces a window.
Hardware Options
Handles, knobs, towel bars, hinges, clamps, channels, headers and sliding track. Finishes include chrome, brushed nickel, matte black, satin brass, polished nickel, bronze, antique brass and polished copper.
Glass Treatments
EnduroShield is applied to the glass to keep it clear of water spots and soap film, and carries a 10-year warranty. Optional on every enclosure and worth considering on hard-water supplies.

Frequently Asked Questions
Price depends on the size of the opening, the glass thickness, the configuration and the hardware you choose. A single fixed panel is the least expensive option; a large multi-panel enclosure with heavy hardware and low-iron glass is the most. We quote after measuring, so the number you get is for your actual opening rather than an estimate that changes later. The consultation and the measurement are free.
Typically 7 to 10 business days from the date we measure to the date we install. Unusual configurations, specialty glass and custom hardware finishes can add time, and we will tell you at the measure if your job is one of them.
Yes, and it is a large share of what we do. If your tile is sound and the opening is finished, we can measure and fit new glass to it without touching the tile. We will flag it at the measure if the curb slope, the wall condition or the opening dimensions would cause a problem.
3/8″ and 1/2″ tempered glass for frameless work. Thickness is chosen from the panel size and the configuration — taller and wider panels generally need 1/2″. All shower glass we install is tempered safety glass.
